The quote “Fatigue makes cowards of us all” has been attributed to many (Jimmy Johnson, Vince Lombardi, but likely General George Patton) and repeated often for good reason.

 

It is important to remember.

 

Everything is harder when you are tired.

 

Obstacles seem bigger… when you are tired.

Problems are more difficult… when you are tired.

Things will never change… when you are tired.

All is lost… when you are tired.

 

And it seems like it is your fault.

You aren’t smart enough.

Or strong enough.

Or… just not enough.

 

OK.

Maybe there are some things you could do a little better, but…

 

What if you just need a nap?

 

Or a good night’s sleep?

 

Perhaps everything looks bleak and overwhelming because you are tired and you can’t really see things clearly.

 

It’s possible.

 

So before you give up or kick yourself again…

Get some sleep.

Reevaluate things when you wake up.

You’ll be glad you did.
