If you like everything you read in the Bible, you might not be reading it correctly. I say this because I believe the Bible is holy and that we are not. For that reason alone, I assume that there will be parts of the Holy Bible that unholy people do not like.
There will be parts that offend us. Parts that make us uncomfortable. Parts that we don’t want to be true. Those parts might be different for different people across different cultures and across different times, but every person in every culture in every time is sinful and, therefore, will be bothered when confronted with holiness.
We should expect this.
Which is why, if you agree with and like everything you read in the Bible, you might want to take a second look at how you are reading and understanding it. Are you adjusting what the Bible says in order for it to fit in with your views? Is that why you like everything you read? Wouldn’t it make sense that there would be some things in a holy book that would bother you, a sinful person?
There are parts of the Bible that I do not like. Parts that I wish were not true. However, I still accept them as true and good. I assume that my not liking these parts is more a reflection on me and the parts of me that need to change, rather than a reflection on the Bible.
The goal is for me (and for us) to be conformed by and to the Word of God, not to conform it to our likes and sensibilities.
